Getting exciting. Yeah. consistency is key, guys. Just remember that. Whatever you guys want to do in life, just do it. Yeah. Just one of the things we said when we when we were getting ready to start the podcast was like, let's let's do it. But if we're gonna do it, we're gonna commit to one full year of like actually recording consistently. Gus: And yeah, I think this is getting a lot more real. Yeah. This is getting exciting. Yeah. consistency is key, guys. Just remember that. Whatever you guys want to do in life, just do it. Yeah. Just one of the things we said Getting ready to start the podcast was like, let's let's do it. gonna do are we're commit to one full year of like actually recording consistently, editing, posting, doing all the work that that it takes to build and produce and distribute a podcast. Right. So, you know, consistency is one of our main pillars. It's like this is what we have to do consistently every time. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I saw a a post today with the the Diary of a CEO podcast. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Editing, posting, doing all of the work that that it takes to build and produce and distribute a podcast. Right. So, you know, consistency is one of our main pillars. It's like this is what we have to do consistently every time. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I saw a post today for the Diary of a CEO podcast Gus: And it he posted that he he finally reached eighteen million followers and he was talking about how in like the first year he was absolutely talking to nobody, like nobody, THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: and it he posted that he he finally reached eighteen million followers. Wow. And he was talking about how in like the first year he was absolutely talking to nobody, like no Gus: no audience. Sometimes zero, sometimes one, sometimes two people, but nobody. And so then, you know, just to see him hit eighteen million followers it's like That's insane. Yeah, the only difference between that and and what we're doing is he he has done it for years and years and THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No audience. Sometimes zero, sometimes one, sometimes two people. But nobody. Wow. And so then, you know, just to see him hit eighteen million followers is like That's insane. Yeah, the only difference between that and and what we're doing is he he has done it for years and years. We're also talking to currently nobody. Yeah, we only have we have an audience of one today. Audience of one. other than that, yeah, I think I think it's nice. I think it it takes a lot of the pressure out, right? Imagine if we start out by Gus: Yeah, we yeah, we only have we have an audience of one today. other than that, yeah, I think I think it's nice. I think it it takes a lot of the pressure out, right? Imagine if we started out by talking to thousands of people. Yeah. It would just make it more challenged. More shallant. Yeah. More shallant. cool man. So welcome back. God thanks. Yeah. Hector was on a trip. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Talking to thousands of people. Yeah. It would just make it more shallant. More shallant. More shallant. cool man. So welcome back. dude, thanks. Yeah. Yeah. Hector was on a trip, which will happen a lot, so get ready for the stories of Remote Recording. I thought that's where you were gonna go with that. huh. Yeah. Actually, yeah, no, we can go there. Hector and I are going to be Gus: Which will happen a lot, so get ready for the stories of trips. Yeah. Actually yeah, no, we can go there. Hector and I are going to be traveling often. The more the time goes by, I think, the more we'll travel. Yeah. And we want to take this with us. Well that's THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: traveling often, the more the time goes by I think the more we'll travel. Yeah. And we want to take this with us. Well, that's it's kind of contradictory to what we said about consistency. But that's literally one of the things we tried to figure out. It's like, okay, we're both traveling for work or doing stuff. How do we remain consistent in schedules that are so Gus: Literally. stuff, how do we remain consistent in schedules that are so Random sporadic and random. Yeah. and so we're gonna have to record episodes from different places, bring equipment with us everywhere, make sure we prepare and have stuff to talk about and like and really be consistent, even when we're in different parts of the world. I agree. Yeah. I try to call on a FaceTime. For some reason I kept calling them Hector and Delaney when they were on on a date and every time every night I would call right at eight PM. I don't know why I thought THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: sporadic and random. Yeah. and so we're gonna have to record episodes from different places, bring equipment with us everywhere, make sure we prepare and have stuff to talk about and like and really be consistent even when we're in different parts of the world. I agree. Yeah. I try to call them on FaceTime. For some reason I kept calling them Hector and Delaney when they were on on a date. Every night. Every time every night I would call right at 8 p.m. Gus: That that would be the best idea. We're having dinner. Yeah, this man has a glass full of wine. I'm over here asking him. No, it's like three o'clock here. Yeah. Yeah. Work day, you know. Middle of the afternoon. Middle of the afternoon. I was trying to get deals done and talk about the podcast and I was rejected various times. I took your call. He did take my call. He took my call. and told me, Hey, why are you calling? What do you want? What do you want? Right. What yes, Gus? I'm happy dinner. Yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That would be the best Or having dinner. This man has a glass full of wine. I'm over here asking him. It was like four o'clock. No, it was like three o'clock here, two o'clock. Yeah. Middle of the afternoon. Middle of the afternoon. I was trying to get deals done and talk about the podcast and I was rejected various times. I took your call. He did take my call. He took my call. and told me, Hey, why are you calling? What do you want? Yes, Gus. I'm having dinner. Yeah. With Delaney. Gus: I know, the ladies like halfway through a wi a sip of wine looking at me like I'm the problem. But low key, Hector's always the problem. It was never me. big consistency guy over here, you know what I mean? No no. But we we we're gonna THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Low key, Hector's always the problem. It was never me. big consistency guy you know what I mean? No, no. But we will. We we're gonna be consistent. I I did bring this mic to Europe with me. That's that's just so extra. Yeah, it is. It's very extra. through securities. So what is it? Sir, is this yours or is this your girlfriend? It's mine. Gus: mic to Europe again. That's that's just so extra. Yeah, it is. It's very it's a bit I can imagine going through the tears. They're like, Sir Sir, is this yours or is this your girlfriend? It's like it's it's it's mine. It's it's it's fine. You can check it. It's there's nothing there. yeah, man, but I agree. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: There's definitely Yeah, man, but I agree. I mean it's f it's funny. We're we're gonna be previewing something here, but you know, we we're we Hector and I are going to a trip to Colombia in about a week and a half. And we're planning on getting something over there. Yeah, yeah. We'll be we'll have to bring both mics and the and the camera. Unless Guillermo gives us the little mics, which I think we should we should get the little mics for sure. Dude, there are a lot of cool people there. it's gonna be a good wedding. Yeah. And yeah, I think you know you know what my idea is and it's just like off the top of my head. Go ahead. I think we should spot up with the camera, by the pool or by like one of the areas that are that looks really nice in the background, like a nice background or where the Guaté mountain or whatever is in the background. And just sit down Gus: it's gonna be a good wedding. And yeah, I think you know you know what my idea is, and this is just like off the top of my head. I think we should spot up with the camera, by the pool or by like one of the areas that are that looks really nice in the background, like a nice background where the Guatape mountain or whatever is in the background, and just sit down. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: and as people are enjoying the festivities, we're just talking about Gus: And as people are enjoying the festivities, we're just we're just talking in a podcast. As opposed to Big Mike who's our best friend and refused to produce THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. Little Mike, as opposed to Big Mike who's our best friend and has refused to produce an episode for us. Yeah, he's he's gonna be too late to jump on this bandwagon and I'm not I'm not gonna allow it. I'm gonna say no. It's like guys, can I just can I be part of the podcast now? The the price has gone up. Yeah, just show you your application to the LinkedIn. we'll be reviewing those in a couple Gus: Yeah, he's he's gonna be too late to jump on this bandwagon and I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm not gonna allow it. Just like was super humble about it. Yeah. It's the biggest island off the coast of of Greece and it was stunning, dude. Like absolutely beautiful They have the Temple of Zeus. It was insane. Beautiful, beautiful That's awesome. Some of the best beaches I've seen THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Shout out Nico. he the entire time I like would talk to him, he's like, Yeah, you know, my family's from this like small island in Crete. not really like super noteworthy or whatever. Just like was super humble about it. Yeah it's the biggest island off the coast of of Greece, and it was stunning, dude. Like absolutely beautiful. It was insane, beautiful, beautiful. Some of the best beaches I've seen. some of like the the coolest people. Gus: Some of like the the coolest people. Everybody's just so chill. And all I could think of is like the lifestyle and and the culture that they have here is so different than in how we live in the US. but yeah, it's still just people at the end of the day. But they grow up there though, that's crazy. Are very different. Sure. They're the way they like live and experience life is is just through a very different lens than than we do, I think, here. It's very slow, very appreciative of the little things. Like do people are hanging out, having a little espresso. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Everybody's just so chill and all I could think of is like the lifestyle and and the culture that they have here is so different than and how we live in the US. but you know, it's j still just people at the end of the day. But the their priorities are very different. Dude, they're the way they like live and experience life is is just through a very different lens than than we do, I think, here. It's very slow, very appreciative of the little things. Like dude, people are hanging out, having a little espresso. In the middle of the afternoon. It's kinda like South America too. Sure. but it's so nice, dude. They love being outdoors, they love being like kind to one another, super safe. dude, I didn't feel unsafe at all, like at any time of the day, anywhere in the island. Like it was it was really nice, man. Cool, man. Yeah, that's that's so that's so cool. Gus: In the middle of the hour. Two PM in South America too. Sure. But it's so nice, dude. They love being outdoors. They love being like kind to one another. Super safe. dude, I didn't feel unsafe at all. Like at any time of the day, anywhere in the island. Like it was it's really nice. Cool, man. That that's that's so that's so cool to hear. Like sometimes we forget that people are living completely different lives. They're being raised differently, they're growing up differently, their hangouts are different, they're their party THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: their their party scene is different. They're nice. they like to party. They like to drink for sure. Yeah. I I'm assuming Gus: scene is different, their night life is different. Yeah, I'm I'm assuming that that's that's fair to say. In and in Europe, yeah. An island in Europe, yeah. I mean honestly the Caribbean's the same way, right? there's this famous saying called baile botella y baraja which is like the colonials when they would come to the islands they would just give the local people baile, which is parties, botella which is alcohol, and baraja which is games like just dominoes, board games, whatever and THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: what you do on an island. Yeah. An island in Europe. Yeah. I mean honestly the Caribbean's the same way, right? there's this famous saying called baile bothe baraja which is like the colonials when they would come to the islands they would just gift the local people baile which is parties botella which is alcohol and baraja which is games like just dominoes, board games, whatever and nice they would work for you eight to five and on Friday, Saturday, Sunday they were shit does not stop. Gus: They would work for you eight to five and on Friday, Saturday, Sunday they were having a good time. Yeah, yeah. So that's awesome, man. Then you you rented out a boat. You can say that. Dude, they do not like it it's so chill. Everything's so chill over there. People are like, Yeah, like, take the boat. Yeah. Take the boat. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Good time. Nice. Yeah. So that's awesome. And then you rent it out of boat. Dude, they do not like the it's so chill. Everything's so chill over there. People are like, Yeah, like take the boat. Like like you sign up, they give you a one page a one page waiver and you're like, You know how to drive a boat? I'm like, I mean I'm I'm licensed. Like, so you have experience. I was like, I'm Gus: Yeah I'm licensed. Like so you have experience. was like, I'm I'm Yeah, yeah, I have a license. I took a a twenty pound online THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I'm licensed. I took a a twenty five question quiz online. They were like, So you know how to like, you know, like drive it dock, you know, you can take it away from the dock in the marina. It's like I'll I'll try my best. He like, All right, well sign here and and you're good to go. Yeah. Bring bring her back in one piece. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I promise I'll I'll bring her back. Dude, so chill. The guy was super nice, literally just let us take his boat. Gus: Take it away from the dock in the marina. It's like I'll I'll do my best. All right, we're about to find out here and and you're good to go. Yeah. Yeah, cool. Yeah, scout's honor. Yeah. You just make a promise. Yeah, I promise I'll I'll bring it back. Dude, so chill. The guy was super nice. Literally just let us take his THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Drover a lot, dude. The there was some serious choppy waters. I couldn't even get it on video. Dude, because I'm I'm like, the ladies on the back of the boat, dude. We're going around like the I don't know if this was the I I honestly don't know which ocean or sea this was. The Mediterranean Sea. I don't know what side of the island we were in. But dude, the waters got choppy. Like really choppy, dude. I'm like stressed out. I'm like not even having a good time. As a captain, you gotta keep it tight, right? You gotta keep it tight. Gus: Dude, the there was some serious choppy waters. I get because I'm I'm like the ladies on the back of the boat, dude. We're around like the I don't know if this was the I I honestly don't know which ocean or sea this was. The Mediterranean Sea. I don't know what side of the island we're on. Sure. But dude, the waters got choppy. Yeah. Like really choppy, dude. I'm like stressed out. I'm like not even having a good time. Yeah, but as a captain, you gotta keep it tight, right? Like you you you gotta make sure everybody like Delaney was like she's looking at you like, he got it. Yeah, she was seeing it. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No, she was sitting she was sitting in the back, dude, because sitting in the front was rough, dude, because the boat would go up and slam down on the next wave. I'm freaking like I'm stressed out, bro. I'm stressed out. Especially because the way you have to hit the waves as you're trying to hit like head in a particular direction is strange. And for any any of you guys that knows how to operate a boat, like you have to hit it at a right angle, so that it's not like tipping the boat over or like Gus: sitting in the front was rough. The boat would go up and slam down on the next wave. Yeah. And your eyes are just like stressed out, bro. Especially because the way you have to hit the waves as you're trying to hit like head in a particular direction is strange. And for any any you guys that knows how to operate a boat like you have to hit it at a right angle so that it's not like tipping the boat over or like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Pushing you off course. Gus: pushing you off course. Was that part of the twenty five hour twenty five hour quiz? I had to look it up on Chat GBT and the wave. Yeah. Yeah. but it was it was cool. I mean it was stressful for like the 30 minutes that we were trying to get back into the bay and that's we were in we'll see if we got some drone shots, right? I lost the drone dude. I told you yeah I told you this morning but I'll tell you story. so we had we took a drone with us, the little the DJI mini four K, you the THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No, dude. Not at all. No, dude I had to look it up on Chat GPT while I'm getting slammed on every wave. but it was it was cool. I mean it was stressful for like the thirty minutes that we were trying to get back into the bay and once we were in it super cool. Yeah. But it was nice. Drone shots, right? I lost the drone, dude. I told you yeah, I told you this morning, but I'll tell you the story. so we had we took a drone with us, the little the DJI mini four K, you know, the ri Gus: r super easy to fly. I've done it a a million times. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: super easy to fly. I've done it a a million times. Gus: we had all this footage that from like the last couple of days and we had just left like from this this little tiny THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: we had all this footage that from like the last couple of days and we had just left like from this this little tiny side of the island. We had to cross the bay again to get to the the main side where we were gonna go back to the marina and and drop off the boat. But the sun was setting, we're in the middle of the bay, the the waters are kind of choppy again, it's pretty windy, but y you have like a view of the entire island and like the mountainscape and then the sunset. So I'm like, how cool would it be to get a drone video of me? Gus: side of the island, we had to cross the bay again to get to the the main side where we were gonna go back to the marina and drop off the boat. But the sun was setting, we're in the middle of the bay, the the waters are kind of choppy again, it's pretty windy, but you have like a view of the entire island and like the mountainscape and then the sunset. So I'm like, how cool would it be to get a drone video of me driving the boat through the bay with the sun setting in the back, the mountains What could go wrong, yeah. What could go wrong? Everything. Yeah. So THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: driving the boat through the bay with the sun setting in the back, the mountains, you know, beautiful. Yeah. Everything, dude. So Gus: Well I tried I I tried to bring the boat down to like I just put it in neutral, started s it started slowing down, I set up the drone and I didn't take account to the fact that the boat was still moving and it was so windy. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I tried I I I try to bring the boat down to like I just put it in neutral. Started s it started slowing down. I set up the drone and I didn't take account to the fact that the boat was still moving and it was so windy. So I I fly the drone up from the like the front of the boat. And because the boat's still moving forward and the wind was like blowing pretty hard Gus: So I I fly the drone up from the like the front of the boat and because the boat's still moving forward and the wind was like blowing pretty hard, it came into the main cabin underneath the awning. And I'm like trying to control it and I'm freaking out and it like hits one of the driving with your knee. Dude, yeah, I'm trying doing everything I can. I hit one of the side like ropes and I saw it in slow motion. I'm like, this it's over. It hits one of the side ropes, it goes plops into the ocean. And I'm looking at it and I'm like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: It came into the main cabin underneath the awning and I'm like trying to control it and I'm freaking out and it like hits one of the dude, yeah. I'm trying I'm doing everything I can. I hit one of the side like ropes and I saw it in slow motion. I'm like, this it's over. It hits one of the side ropes and goes plops into the ocean and I'm looking at it, I'm like, damn it, dude. Immediately. Like it's not like I thought it was gonna float for a second. No, dude, it just started sinking immediately. Gus: Cook dude, immediately. Like it's not like I thought it was gonna float for a second. No, dude, it just started sinking immediately. It's a submarine too, you didn't know. Dude, yeah, I know. I wish. Yeah. so I look at it, I'm like, I thought to myself, I I could jump in the water and go and get it. And the water there is like not super sketchy, it's not like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Dude, yeah, I know. I wish. so I look at it, I'm like I thought to myself I I could jump in the water and go and get it. And the water there is like not super sketchy. It's not like, I don't know, jumping into the Atlantic where you just don't know. Yeah. New Sparta Beach. Yeah. No, not sketchy at all. but the next thing that I thought of was like, we haven't backed up any of the videos from the last couple of days. So the only the thing I could remember was that the the remote control, if it still has connection to the drone, will Gus: I don't know, jumping into the Atlantic. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. New Suburnabi. Yeah. No, not sketchy at all. but the next thing that I thought of was like we hadn't backed up any of the videos from the last couple of days. my lord. The only the thing I could remember was that the the remote control, if it still has connection to the drone, will cache some of the videos. Cash or catch however you say. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Cash some of the videos, cash or catch, however you say it, onto the remote. So I went, I ran over to the remote and I saw that the videos were still on there, and I pressed like select and I tried to click as many as I could as man as many as I could and downloaded them onto my phone. and the drone was long gone. so kind of a bittersweet, right? We lost the drone, but we were able to get the footage, but also the footage that we got wasn't super high quality because it wasn't it was like the cache videos from the remote. So they're like, Gus: onto the remote. So I went, I ran over to the remote and I saw that the videos were still on there and I pressed like select and I tried to click as many as I could as man as many as I could and downloaded them onto my phone. Nice. and the drone was long gone. Yeah. so kind of a bittersweet, right? We lost the drone, but we were able to get the footage. But also the footage that we got wasn't super high quality because it wasn't it was like the cache videos from the remote. So they're like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: smaller file sizes. Anyway, a bummer, but we'll I'll I'll s I'll sh post some or I'll I'll show to you. If I ever post. No no no, I will. I'll post. I post. I'll post. Gus: Smaller file sizes. Anyway, a bummer, but we'll I I'll s I'll sh post some or I'll I'll show to you. Sure. Sure. If I ever post. Yeah, yeah, we we gotta encourage. Yeah, we gotta encourage this this posting thing nowadays, especially. Yeah, yeah. You know, I mean just build your brand. Yeah, dude. Right now where we're at, creating a brand around yourself is probably the best idea. I think people would like to see what you're doing and if they show up and they see you graduating high school, I think that that's gonna be quite a bit of a concern. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah, yeah. I g I got good footage. I got good footage. Gus: If that's like the second post you have twenty years ago, dude. Black and white my god, dude. Yeah, you gotta get better. Listen, Hector has footage. Hector's a traveler, man, and that's something I admire about him. He he he definitely does travel and he goes to really cool places and he knows where to go when he's in those places. And so he's probably collected years of footage from all over the world. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Twenty years ago. It's a gray black and white photo from Thank you. He definitely does travel and he goes to really cool places and he knows where to go when he's in those places. And so he's probably collected years of footage from all over the world. And all graduation pictures from twenty fourteen. No, th I don't have anything on my Instagram anymore 'cause remember I got my Instagram hacked in two thousand twenty three. Clicking those links. Gus: And all I see are just graduation pictures from twenty fourteen, you know. Yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: yeah, no dude, it was on I was on a cruise ship and I like I thought I was signing into the Wi Fi. Yeah, right. Gave them everything. Yeah, it's like reading your social and crypto. That's odd. Password. like Gus: Sure. Sign into the Fi. Yeah, right. Sign into the Wi Fi. Yeah. Yeah, it's like we need your social and your and your crypto wallet password. Yeah, you're like sure, I mean w what's the worst that could happen? so I guess I was gonna ask you, what was one of the biggest surprises that you saw as far as like being on the island in Greece? Like I know you mentioned the people being so super nice and you mentioned how you felt super safe, which is yeah, very unique. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I was gonna ask you what was one of the biggest surprises that you saw as far as like being on the island in Greece. Like I I know you mentioned the people being so super nice and you mentioned how you felt super safe, which is yeah very unique. I thought that was so cool. Gus: Yeah. I thought that was coolest thing actually. How nice the people were and they're they're very how do I say this? Like their language is very direct. And especially when it's translated to English. Imagine your language already being direct and it's translated to English so it sounds even more direct. Please sit. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I thought that was the coolest thing actually. Like how nice the people were and and they're they're very how do I say this? Like their language is very direct and especially when it's translated to English. So imagine your language already being direct and it's translated to English and so it sounds even more direct. Gus: Sit down. Please. Now and you're like But but you once you get used to it, you realize like that's just kinda THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Sit, sit, please. And you're like, all right, dude. Yeah. But but you once you get used to it, you realize like that's just kind of the communication barrier that there is. But they're so nice and so caring. And I hate this about being an American sometimes is I'll go to places and people are just like genuinely being nice and I'm like thinking like, what do they want from me? What are they trying to get out of this? I already tipped away. Yeah, I'm already I'm gonna tip regardless. Gus: communication barrier that there is, but they're so nice and so caring. And I hate this about being an American sometimes is I'll go to places and people are just like genuinely being nice and I'm like thinking like what do they want? Yeah from me. What are they trying to get? Yeah, I I already tipped 20. Yeah regardless no people do they're just there to like they want to know your story. They want to know where you're from. They want to sit down and chat. Yeah. And I'm like I'm just so not used to I was just trying to have dinner. Yeah I'm not used to that. And so it's it was very nice. It's always nice to go to like other places and experience. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No, but people do, they're just there to like they want to know your story, they wanna know where you're from, they wanna sit down and chat. Yeah. And I'm like, I'm just so not used to that. Yeah, I'm not used to that. And so it's it was very nice. It's always nice to go to like other places and experience like the genuineness. Yeah. Did you je did you Gus: Did you schedule in this? Yeah. Did you j did you were you able to network with anybody like professionally or was it more of a casual thing? No, super casual. Yeah. Super casual. any young guy any young people our age that you met over there? I a guy we were jumping off a rock at that beach that I showed you. I a guy from the UK. he was like, he was he he he could tell I was American and I think US was about to play Belgium that night. So he was like, you got and England had just beaten Mexico. So we were talking about THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: no, super casual. Super casual. I met a guy, we were jumping off a rock at that beach that I showed you. I met a guy from the UK. he was like, he was he he he could tell I was American and I think US was about to play Belgium that night. So he was like, you got and England had just beaten Mexico. So we were talking about the World Cup as we're standing at the tip of this rock. Yeah. And his name was Ash, so shout out to Ash if you ever see this. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Gus: cuff as we're standing at the tip of this rock. Yeah. And his name was Ash. So shout out to Ash if you ever see this. Yeah, sure. Ash. That'll be one of our first audience members, hopefully. Yeah, that's cool, man. That's just jumps off this rock and it was cool. No, I didn't I didn't bloody hell I I I didn't talk to a whole lot of people. We just it is a lot of it was pretty secluded and pretty private like beaches that we went to. so it was mostly just like a trip for Delaney and I to connect and hang out. And we both have THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Audience members. Yep. Yeah, that's cool. And then he just jumps off this rock and then it was cool. It's cool. But no, I didn't I I honestly didn't I I didn't talk to a whole lot of people. We just it is a lot of it was pretty secluded and pretty private like beaches that we went to. so it was mostly just like a trip for Delaney and I to connect and hang out and we both have a very busy lives, so being able to get away sometimes is super cool. Yeah, that was a problem, that's for sure. Yeah. Gus: Very busy lives, so yeah. Being able to get away sometimes is super cool. Yeah, shout out to traveling, that's for sure. Yeah. I guess we can yeah, we can keep going. I like I like I like the the idea of of talking about trips, especially when they're so recent. Yeah. So I think that that that's a good thing. I'll I'll post some of the stuff on the newsletter, like some cool yeah tips and I don't know, things from the itinerary that I thought were cool. Yeah. I can't think of the names of like some of the beaches that THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I guess we can yeah. Especially when they're so recent. Yeah. So I think that that Yeah, I'll I'll post some of the stuff on the newsletter. Like some cool yeah. Tips and I don't know, things from the itinerary that I thought were cool. I can't think of the names of like some of the beaches that we went to or like all the places, but I'll put them in in the in the chat or whatever for you to put in the newsletter. Absolutely. Yeah, I think shout out to Laney the way. yeah. She's a great travel planner. Yeah, spend some time, dude. Gus: we went to or like all the places, but I'll put them in in the in the chat or whatever for you to put in the newsletter. Absolutely. Yeah, I think shout out Delaney by the way, she's a great travel planner and is that is that a woman thing? Is that a girl thing? I don't know. Because I suck much better at like paying attention to the details the details. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say because my brain can't comprehend anything past buying the tickets, paying for the hotel and just sh jumping on the plane. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I think women are just much better at like paying attention to the details. Yeah, those are Paying for the hotel. Yeah. jump it on the No, dude, she goes on Google Maps and will find the travel times between destinations. So, like if we wake up at nine on any given day, we're gonna have breakfast for 45 minutes. It's gonna take us twenty two minutes to get to this place, and then we're gonna be there for an hour and a half, and then we're gonna drive an hour to get to this next place, and we're gonna be there for so long. it takes time. Gus: travel times between destinations. So like if we wake up at nine on any given day, we're gonna have breakfast for forty five minutes. It's gonna take us twenty two minutes to get to this place and then we're gonna be there for an hour and a half and then we're gonna drive an hour to get to this next place and we're gonna be there for so long. it takes time. Yeah. And you have to really like be patient. I don't have that kind of patience. I don't have the patience, no. The details are are irrelevant to me. I I think that that might just be something that we can look into as far as like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. And you have to really like be patient. I don't have that kind of patience. I don't have the patience. Gus: maybe our biochemistry as men we're we're much big much more big picture. I and I think I've read that somewhere where, you know, the the details are much easier for for the for females to follow just naturally. Sure. And so I mean but I do know g guys that are very detailed. Like Mike, for example. Mike Mike's a detailed guy. Meticulous Mike. Yeah, meticulous Mike is a wow, that guy that guy does pay attention to the details. But overall I do think that there's a there's a THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: picture. I and I think I've read that somewhere where, you know, the the details are much easier for for the for females to follow just naturally. Sure. And so I mean but I do know gu guys that are very detailed. Yeah for example Mike Meticulous. Meticulous details but overall I do think that there's a there's a there's a blessing in having a female companion that pays attention to everything that not I'll be late to everything. I probably have McDonald's even if I even if I'm in Greece. Sure, sure. So that's interesting man and then I love I love it because now we can move on to the you mentioned the World Cup. Yeah. wow dude. What still I'm bitter. I'm bitter still but Gus: There's a blessing in having a female companion that pays attention to everything that 'cause if not I'd be late to everything. I'd probably eat at McDonald's even in a even if I'm in Greece. Sure. so that's interesting, man. And then I love I love it 'cause now we can move on to the you mentioned the World Cup. Yeah. wow, dude. What what a World Cup, dude. yeah. My fellow Colombian over here. We lost four three to penalties. That's penalties are just such a toss up and I hate THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Dude, we lost four three to penalties. penalties are just such a toss up and I hate the fact that well one, my heart, dude can't my heart's beating out of my chest when by the time we get there. and it's just one wrong move, I mean I guess that's what it is, right? You've already played a hundred and twenty minutes. Just get it over rock, paper, scissors. but yeah, we had we had a a a missed penalty kick that hit the crossbar and came down and Gus: the fact that well one my heart you can't my heart's beating out of my chest when I get there. Sure. and it's just one wrong move, I mean I guess that's what it is, right? You've already played a hundred and twenty minutes. Yeah. Just get it over rock or scissors. Yeah. but yeah, we had we had a a a missed penalty kick that hit the crossbar and came down and and he missed. So it was It's just like it I think to to me it's almost harder to hit the crossbar than than it is to just THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: And he missed. So it was I think t to me it's almost harder to hit the crossbar than than it is to just make it annoying. Well one of the one of the the Swiss players, dude, fully bombed it. Like it went so far into the audience or like the the sta the the stands. And I'm like, dude, that's like the one thing you can't do. I'm not gonna claim to know the kind of pressure you're in to kick a World Cup freak penalty kick, but dude, the j I'd rather hit it soft and get it blocked. I'd rather it hit so soft and the guy like fully blocks it than like Gus: Make it in the goal. One of the one of the the Swiss players do fully bombed it. Like you went so far into the audience. Yeah. The the state the the stands. And I'm like, dude, that's like the one thing you can't do. I'm not gonna claim to know the kind of pressure into kick a World Cup penalty kick. Right. Dude, the j I'd rather hit it soft and get it blocked. I'd rather it hit so soft and the guy like fully blocks it than like miss. 'Cause it's like the one thing you can't like just THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Miss. 'Cause it's like the one thing you can't like just hit it on target. Yeah hitting itself. Gus: Yeah target. hitting it soft. Yeah, I I would expect that from you, I think you That makes sense. Yeah, I understand. Yeah, you very passionate. Kiss the ball. That that's what you call it. You d you don't kick the ball. Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's interesting, but encouraging Motivate the ball and and no goal. Yeah. I think that that's yeah. I think that that's an interesting THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That makes sense coming from Very passionately. Right into the corner. Kiss the ball. Of course. Of course. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Encouraging and More. Gus: concept dude. I I don't think that's one thing that I wanted to talk about. I don't think people understand the pressure of being the man in the arena when it's time to kick the winning kick or shoot the winning basket or free throw or, you know, make that game winning drive pass to the right play. You know, and it's like that's something that I think w most I would say all professionals that are watching or that want to learn THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Don't think that's one thing that I wanted to talk about. I don't think people understand the pressure of being the man in the arena when it's time to kick the winning kick or shoot the winning basket or free throw or you know, make that game winning drive pass to the right play. You and it's like sure. that's something that I think w most I would say all professionals that are watching or that want to learn I think sports teaches a lot about scenarios that are very applicable to the real world. Yeah. And I think that that's one of them. It's like game on the line, you have to make this goal. And you're the only you're the only hope that an entire country yeah your entire country has of winning this game. You're the star player of the franchise. Yeah, man. And so like in my head I'm thinking, wow, like how do you apply that to Gus: I think sports teaches a lot about scenarios that are very applicable to the real world. And I think that that's one of them. It's like game on the line, you have to make this goal. And you're the only you're the only hope that an entire country, your entire country has of winning this game. You're star player the franchise. Yeah, man. And so like in my head, I'm thinking Wow, like how do you apply that to your real cause I don't think anybody in the world will ever feel a high or a low as profound as an athlete w trying to win the game for their team. Especially at the world stage. And that's what we were talking about beforehand. Like did you guys see Hector, you saw the K Verde goalie go from like irrelevant to like one of the most famous human beings on the planet? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Think anybody in the world will ever feel a high or a low as profound as an athlete with trying to win the game for their team. Especially at the world stage. And that's what we were talking about beforehand. Like, did you guys see Hector? You saw the K Verde goalie go from like irrelevant to like one of the entire Yeah, first of all their entire country rally behind him and then the whole world seeing like, these guys are crushing it. This guy in particular, like doesn't he have more followers than like Gus: Yeah particularly like Yeah, and like Steph Curry or something. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, dude. And that's how you that's what the World Cup is. I think now that I'm at that stage is it in perspective. Yeah, dude. I have always watched the World Cup since I was a kid. Never have I ever understood the intensity of the World Cup till this one. Yeah. And maybe it's because it's in the United States or in North America or maybe it's because you though. Yeah. The fact that it's here is just impossible. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Tom Brady or something like that? Something crazy. Yeah. Yeah, dude. And that's how you that's what the World Cup is. I think That's how big that stage is, to put it in perspective. Yeah. Kid never intensity of the World Cup to this one. Yeah. And maybe it's because it's in the United States or North America or maybe it's because you feel it though. But the fact that it's here is just impressive Gus: Yeah, it's an experience. Yeah. Like I I've never I've never been to a country that's hosting the World Cup while they're hosting the World Cup. Yeah. The energy dude is insane. Yeah. Dude Miami was hosting. Yeah. That must have been the Columbia Portugal THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: to witness and experience. Yeah. Like I I've never I've never been to a country that's hosting the World Cup while they're hosting the World Cup. Yeah. The energy dude is insane. Yeah. Dude Miami was hosting. Yeah. That must have been the Columbia Portugal. Gus: game, I think it was. Yeah. That that that was like that must have been the place to be in on the entire planet. Dude if THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. That that was like that must have been the place to be in on the entire planet. Dude, if the if I'm not gonna say if anymore, if if Colombia had won, they'd be playing Argentina again in Miami in a couple of days. Yeah, if yeah. Yeah. I'd be in the league. real estate. Yeah. Yeah. No, I get it, man. I think that that's interesting. And and speaking of like Colombia actually, I kinda wanna Gus: If Columbia had won, they'd be playing Argentina again in Miami in a couple of days. Yeah, if yeah. If I was six five I'd be in the NBA but now I'm selling selling real estate. That's something of in the league. Yeah. No, I get it, man. I think that that's interesting. And and speaking of like Columbia actually, I kinda wanna Hector and I were going to be centering this whole podcast, this whole episode on identity and so THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Hector and I were going to be centering this whole podcast, this whole episode on identity. And so we already talked about traveling and what the identity is as a foreigner in another country or just the experience you get as a traveler. talk about a national identity. That's that's what I've gotten most out of the World Cup, man. Yeah. I did not know there were so many people from Norway here. I didn't know there were so many people from Gus: We already talked about traveling and what the identity is as a foreigner in another country, or just the experience you get as a traveler. talk about a national identity. That's that's what I've gotten most out of the World Cup. Man, I did not know there were so many people from Norway here. I didn't know there were so many people from like you know what I mean? And they're representing and they are it it's the tribal mentality we've always talked about. It's like you be us versus them. It THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Like you know I mean? And yeah, representing and they are it it's the tribal mentality we've always talked about. It's like us versus them. Us versus them. It literally becomes us versus them. And sports to me is like a a simulation of war. And you know, whether you have an attack and a defense and you have a general which is technically the coach and you have a flag that you're fighting for. whether that's a t local city team or whether that's like a national team, it's like the World Cup. And to me it's so interesting how Gus: Literally becomes us versus them. And sports to me is like a a simulation of war. And you know, whether you have an attack and a defense, and you have a general which is technically the coach, and you have a flag that you're fighting for. whether that's a t local city team or whether that's like a national team like like the World Cup. And to me, it's so interesting how enhanced the identity of a nation becomes when you are all cheering for the same thing. And I think that that THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: enhanced the identity of a nation becomes when you are all cheering for the same thing. Yeah. And I think that that also might be and you know what? This is something I want to talk to you about. Is it social media? Do you think that is that why this World Cup has been so big? Because it feels enormous. It feels enormous. Yeah. All that everything It feels enormous. Yeah. I think social media has a huge role to play in how grand this World Cup feels. I think it also has to do with the fact that we're here Gus: Also might be and you know what, and this is something I want to talk to you about. Is it social media? Do you think that is that why this World Cup has been so big? Because maybe it feels enormous. It feels enormous. It feels like all that everything everybody's talking about. Yeah. I think social media. feels I think it also has to do with the fact that we're here in the United States. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: in the United States and we're seeing the all of these foreigners post about the United States and their experience and that itself is going viral in other countries and then that's coming back to us. So all of it is just amplified because everybody's experiencing the World Cup through a different lens and social media is promoting the hell out of it. Yeah, man. Yeah, I think I think Gus: about the United States and their experience and that itself is going viral in other countries and that's coming back to us. So all of it is just amplified because everybody's experiencing the World Cup through a different lens and promoting the hell out of it. Yeah, man. Yeah, I think I think a lot of foreigners used to think of traveling to the United States as like going to the mall, right? It's kinda like, Yeah, you go to like this corporation of a country and you have you know, you have fun, you go to Disney which is artificial. You go to all these places that are artificial. But now THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You go to like this corporation of a country and you have you know, you have Father, you go to Disney, which is artificial, you go to all these places that are artificial. But now a lot of these teams and a lot of these fan bases are staying in like these cities and they're like, shit, like there's some cool stuff to do in the United States. Obviously it's not Rome, but you know, it's it's still a lot of cool stuff. I'm loving it. I'm loving seeing it. The you know the White House has posted a couple of times of like all of the Gus: A lot of these teams and a lot of these fan bases are staying in like these cities and they're like, shit, like there's some cool stuff to do here in the United States. Obviously it's not Rome, but you know, it's it's still a lot of cool stuff to do. Careful. All of the all the the different people that are THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: All the the different people that are here enjoying all the things like the the Japanese people having ribs in Texas or like you know, people just like experiencing the US for the first time because social media has painted it to be such a a negative thing, you know, in in their homeland. So it's like watching them experience the maybe I don't know, I don't want to say reality 'cause that's also very subjective, but like Gus: The Japanese people having ribs in Texas. yeah. People just like experiencing the US for the first time because social media has painted it to be such a a negative thing, you know, in their homeland. So it's like watching them experience the maybe I don't know, I don't want to say reality 'cause that's also very subjective, but like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: the normalness that is the United States versus what they might see in their social media is is very relieving and it it feels good. Yeah. In a sense to have somebody enjoy your home. Yeah, absolutely. I think I saw this Gus: the normalness that is the United States versus what they might see in their social media is is very relieving and it it feels good. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I think I saw this post of a guy who was like, Yeah, this this whole time I thought that America was just like money hungry people and gun violence and I'm like, Jesus for real? That's that's that's a real perspective. No, people think it's you know, crime ridden, yeah, trashy, yeah, disgusting. Sure. And it's like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. It's a real perspective. Dude, it no, people think it's you know, crime ridden, yeah, trashy, yeah, disgusting. Sure. And it's like people are like are loving going to Costco. Yeah. They're at Bass Pro Shop. Publix Publix, dude. my god. Getting a pub sub, dude for the first time ever. Yeah, that's good, man. I think yeah, it'd be c it to me it it's just so much more than a sporting event. Yeah. Gus: People are like are loving going to Costco at Bassbro Shop Public getting pops ups. They're like, my god, what is this? Yeah. it's awesome. Yeah, it's good, man. I think yeah, it became it to me it it's just so much more than a sporting event. And do you have there what the schedule's remaining? Like what what what what what are the what are the remaining at this point when we're recording this podcast? So Columbia lost yesterday. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: point when we're recording the podcast. So Colombia lost yesterday, unfortunately, to Switzerland. So now they're gonna be playing Argentina. Switzerland was Argent I would have loved Columbia. Who are you taking? Gus: Yeah, this man he's not living this down. Yeah, that's crazy. Swiss or Lind versus Argent I would have loved Columbia, Argentina. Arj Argentina, man. You d you you don't bet against the the the football guys. Yeah. Versus the Swiss. Nah yeah, I don't know. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah, Argentina. Dude, Messi versus versus the Swiss. No, and then you know, you saw the Argentina game versus Egypt. Yeah. Yes, as well. I mean, my god. Very controversial game. But I thought it was just perfect soccer, but but apparently now like they're suing the code the referee or something. Really? Yeah, they're it became a huge issue apparently. they took the Egypt goal away, which I saw that I think would have put him tied if if it would have been but Gus: versus Egypt. Yeah. Yes, it was what I'm Very controversial game. But I thought it was just perfect soccer, but but apparently now every like they're suing the co the referee or something. And yeah, they're it became a huge issue apparently. they took the Egypt goal away, which I saw that I think would have put tied if if it would have went in, but you know, and and and now apparently I I don't know if you know this Argentina's getting the FBI's inve investigating the team of Argentina for corruption for THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You know, and and and now apparently I I don't know if you know this, Argentina's getting the FBI's inve investigating the team of Argentina for what for corruption. For some sort of contracts with the old Argentinian president that was sponsoring money into the organization. Not sure if that's leading up, but I have a really credible source that's posted it and so I believe that that is actually happening as we speak. Damn. So imagine imagine getting imagine the Argentinian team winning the World Cup. Gus: some sort of contracts with the old Argentinian president that was funneling money into the organization. Not sure if that's leading up, but I have a really credible source that's posted it and so I believe that that is actually happening as we speak. So imagine imagine getting imagine the Argentinian team winning the World Cup and then as soon as like they're on the podium the FBI just raids that shit. Raids. Yeah. Arrests Messi. Damn dude. Yeah, it's happening as we speak. But if the if that doesn't happen THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: And then as soon as like they're on the podium, the FBI just raids that raids it just shuts it down. Yeah. Arrest message. Damn, dude. Yeah, it's happening as we speak. But if if that doesn't happen, Argent I think Argentina beats the Swiss. Norway versus England. Gus: Argent I think Argentina beats the Swiss. Norway versus England. hell. Crazy. What a game, that one. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Crazy. What a game, that one. Haland. Haland, yeah. Gus: Haland. Yeah, dude, the the young Viking. That's tough, man. I think yeah, I think I think is it Harry Kane that's the English dude? Yeah, I think he's great. Bellingham, yeah, that's the other guy, yeah. Yeah, they are, yeah. I think England's a more of a machine. I think they're they're a stronger team. But I it it you know, it's hard to bet against a guy who's who's on fire right now. Yeah, I think I'm going to England as well. You going to England? Yeah, I'm to England. Yeah, I'll go England 'cause I think THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That's tough. I think yeah, I think I think is it Harry Kane that's the English dude? Yeah, I think Jude Bellingham, dude, that dude's the real deal. Yeah, they are, yeah. I think England's a more of a machine. I think they're they're a stronger team. But I it you know, it's hard to bet against a guy who's who's on fire right now. Yeah, I think I'm going England as well. You going to England? Yeah, I'm going to England. Yeah, I'll go England because I think Gus: I I probably know more Brits than I do pe Norwegians. Yeah, true. Yeah. Spain v Belgium. Spain. Spain, yeah. But that would have been Spain USA, right? Spain USA dude. What do you do? I mean, you go USA, dude. You have to. I mean, you know, shout out to Guillermo. And Bea, yeah, I love you guys, but man I have I literally have I don't have a THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: probably know more Brits than I do in p Norwegians. Yeah, true. Yeah. Spain v Belgium. Spain. Spain. Yeah. But that would have been Spain USA, right? Spain, USA. Dude. What do you do? I mean you go USA. Yeah, yeah. Shout out to Guillermo. Love you and Bear. Love you guys. I love you guys, but again. I have I literally have a I don't have a Spain jersey. Well I have a no I just have US jerseys. Gus: Yeah, is this the one I got you? It's unfortunately they didn't. They fell short and it was actually a pretty atrocious game to watch. But meanwhile, like or during the whole rally it felt really cool to be a part of it and enjoy the rally with the team. So I was I like that a lot. Yeah. I'll I I went to Point Orlando THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: of of everybody rallying behind the team and and kind of this sense of belief that they could achieve it. It's unfortunately they didn't. They fell short and it was actually a pretty atrocious game to watch. But meanwhile, like a or during the whole rally, it felt really cool to be a part of it and enjoy the rally with the team. So anyways, we have right now there's a free agency going on in the NBA THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: we're we're having her run the the s the audio system but I think she's over it. So anyways we have right now there's a free agency going on in the MBA. Gus: and I think that that's something that I wanted to talk about because not only are there huge moves happening, I think the New York Knicks won the championship, as you know. And I think that they completely reestablished what a team should look like because they won with an established team that they've been building for six years. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: And I think that that's something that I wanted to talk about because not only are there huge moves happening, I think the New York Knicks won the championship, as you know. And I think that they completely reestablish what a team should look like because they won with an established team that they've been building for six years, Gus: And their star player is a six one point guard who it who shoots and and attacks off the ball. And that THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: and their star player is a six one point guard who it who shoots and and attacks off the ball. And that Gus: completely opened the eyes to every other team to realize like, we don't need like a three team like a three star team like they used to do, like the big three was a huge thing in the NBA, you with LeBron and D. Wade and Chris Bosch, and then with Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Clay Thompson. And so I think that that's readjusting the entire league. And so there's been big moves. Giannis is going to Miami, which is cool. the Greek freak. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: completely opened the eyes to every other team to realize like we don't need like a three team like a three star team like they used to do like the big three was a huge thing in the NBA you LeBron and D. Wade and Chris Bosch and then with Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Clay Thompson. And so I think that that's readjusting the entire league. And so there's been big moves. Giannis is going to Miami, which is cool. the That's huge, yeah. That's huge it's huge for Miami and it's huge for him because he's been in Milwaukee. That's tough. I'm sure that the agent came up to him and they were like all right Giannis Gus: That's you have for it's huge for Miami be and it's huge for him because he's been in Milwaukee. Like I'm sure that the agent came up to him and they were like, All right, Gianna, THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: So we you could take twenty million dollars more and stay here in Wisconsin or take less money and move to your family to Miami. I don't know how long you would have thought about that, but let's talk about that. Like how do how much does twenty million dollars mean to these people who are making hundreds of millions dollars? Gus: so we you can take twenty million dollars more and stay here in Wisconsin or take less money and move to your family to Miami. I don't know how long you would have thought about that, but let's talk about that. Like how d how much does twenty million dollars mean to these people who are making hundreds of millions of dollars? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah, no, not much, but also like how long was he playing for Milwaukee? Probably like a decade, and then his whole career. Right, but then you've got a Gus: And then moving how much, but also like how long was he playing for Milwaukee? probably like a decade, maybe his whole career. Right, but then you've got to uproot your family. Like it's not yeah, it's Miami's great. Yeah. But it's also uprooting your family. Do you have kids? Yeah. Uprooting your kids. Yeah. Taking them away from their schools and friends. It's hard. It's hard. How do you do that? How do you do that? And and and honestly, that's a good point to talk about professionally in general, right? How many times do you see a professional THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Uproot your family like it's not it's a Miami's great, yeah, but it's also uprooting your family. Does he have kids? Yeah. Uprooting your kids. Yeah. Taking them away from their schools, their friends. That's hard. It's hard. How do you do that? Do you see a professional? Gus: a broker like w we are or an attorney or a doctor or or just anybody in the professional world have to make a choice like that, right? Like do I take twenty thousand dollars a month more, ten thousand dollars a month more, and move my whole family to the middle of nowhere in I don't know, and mid mid state, you know, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, or do I stay in Florida, make less, but I'm comfortable here and I THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Just anybody in the professional world have to make a choice like that, right? Like do I take twenty thousand dollars a month more, ten thousand dollars a month more, and move my whole family to the middle of nowhere in I don't know, and mid mid state, you know, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, or do I stay in Florida, make less, but I'm comfortable here and I like that's a that I that's a decision I've never got it's a quality of life thing. Yeah. Quality of life decision. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think I think my you know Gus: Like that's a that I that's a decision I've never encountered. Quality of life thing. Yeah. Quality of life decision. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think I think my you I we I moved from Puerto Rico when I was nine years old. That was so tough. That was a very tough time. I mean it wasn't tough THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Puerto Rico when I was nine years old. That was so tough. That was a very tough time. I mean it wasn't tough. I thought you moved here early like before that. No, I was nine. My dad bought the house in two thousand and seven. Six. Two thousand six. And so we moved here. I was in the third grade in private school in Puerto Rico and I was getting in a lot of trouble. They were actually going to expel me from the school and it was like February. My dad's like, Yeah, you know, please let him finish the year 'cause we're moving. We're getting him out of here. Don't worry. Gus: No, I was nine. My dad bought the house in two thousand and seven. Six, two thousand and six. And so we moved here. I was in the third grade in private school in Puerto Rico and I was getting in a lot of trouble. They were actually going to expel me from the school and it was like February. My dad's like, Y you know, please let him finish the year 'cause we're moving. We're getting him out of here. Don't worry, you won't have to deal with him anymore. That's how bad of a kid I was, I guess. And so we ended up moving to f to Lake Alfred, Florida. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That's how bad of a kid I was. And so we ended up moving to to Lake Alfred, Florida. Oop. Yeah. Shout out Lake Alfred. Shout out Fole County. Yeah, Fall County. My dad bought the house in Davenport. My mom got an apartment in Lake Alfred. Gus: Yeah, shout out Lake Alfred, all twelve of you guys. Yeah, Fole County. My dad bought the house in Davenport. My mom got an apartment in Lake Alfred and I went to Lake Alfred Elementary. the culture shock was just from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Lake Alfred, Florida. Yeah. You could imagine. but made a lot of friends. it's easy when you're a kid, you know. I mean it it is Lake Alfred's still THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: culture shock was just from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Lake Alfred, Florida. Yeah. You could imagine. but made a lot of friends. it's easy when you're a kid, you know, I mean it is Lake Alfred still has a lot of like Latin American demographics, no? Not really, no. Not not when I moved in. When I moved there Gus: Not really, no. Not w not when I moved in. When I moved there I gotta be very careful with this. I think that I was definitely the very, very low minority of there was not a lot of po I did not have Puerto Rican friends, no. my best friends were, you know Maybe not like Alfred but Yeah, not like a Hain City, yeah. Hain City Yeah boon The Boon. Yeah. Yeah, we yeah, i yeah, no, Lake Alfred was definitely still the the countryside of of Polk County at the time. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I think that I was definitely the very, very low minority of there was not a lot of po I did not have Puerto Rican friends, no. my best friends were, you know maybe not Lake Alfred, but Yeah, not like a Hain City, yeah. Hain City Boone dude. The Boone. Boone. Yeah, we yeah, i yeah, no, Lake Alfred was definitely still the the countryside. Got got it got it. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. Sure. And a lot of orange Gus: And a lot of orange groves and it was very agricultural and like hard working, you know, blue collared Americans just working hard. and yeah, it was just an interesting time for us to move there and but but what I'm saying with all this is like comparing it to like a professional moving their kids from city to city. What's crazy is that Giannis has a say in it because he's a superstar, right? But there's a lot of players who just get bounced around in trade packages or get they they don't get THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: and it was very agricultural and like hardworking, you know, blue-collared Americans working hard. and yeah it was just an interesting time for us to move there and but but what I'm saying with all this is like comparing it to like a professional moving their kids from city to city. What's crazy is that Giannis has the say in it because he's a superstar, right? But there's a lot of players who just get bounced around in trade packages or get they they don't get a contract with the team they're in the next year they have to go to the other one and they get one year deals, two year deals. Those are completely different seven, eight year deals. I think a lot of those players though, don't they have like a primary and secondary home or like they're they're in one place during the season and then they'll come home. Yeah, yeah. Usually it has to do Gus: a contract with the team they're in and next year they have to go to another one and they get one year deals, two year deals. Those are completely different than seven, eight year deals. secondary home or like yeah they're in one place during the season and come home. Yeah, yeah. Usually it has to do with where you were drafted and how long you were there. 'Cause like for example, like we just got Vucev Vucevich back to Orlando Magic. Wow. His primary home was always here. Yeah, yeah. We just get we got Vuoch back. Yeah. Yeah. It's like God, how do you tell him to to you know yo yo go? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Wow. His primary back. Dude, I used to see him at at the movie theaters all the time. This guy loved going to the movies. I would've I would've hated to be the guy sitting behind it. How do Gus: He he liked to sit in row two. That's his favorite That was his favorite row. Row row two. He sits in the last row THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: you tell him to be like the city roll through it? That's his favorite. That was his favorite row. with his head right in front of the project Yo, you Gus: with the projector. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: thought his shadow part of the movie the entire time and I was just like wondering when they w they were gonna address that. That's so funny. Gus: You yo, you thought his his shadow was part of the movie the entire time. You were just like wondering when they were they were gonna address that. That's so funny. Yeah, no, it's funny. Those people have normal lives, isn't that funny? Like they just go to the movies. That's great, man. Yeah, we got him back, man, on a like three year contract. He's a great ball. Yeah, yeah. He was an all star for two years when he was here. And but yeah, he always played while he's still getting Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he just never fit into like he was the main guy here. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Loves dude loved it. I would see him there all the time. Yeah, we got him back, man. that's great, dude. Baller. Absolute baller. He's still playing well, he's still good. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he just never fit into like he was the main guy here. He was second or third option in everywhere everywhere else he went and his numbers dropped. But he's still a twenty and ten player, you know, twenty points ten. How old is he? Gus: He was second or third option and everywhere everywhere else he went and his numbers dropped. But he's still a twenty and ten player, you know, twenty points, ten rebounds. He's probably like thirty four, thirty five. He's pushing his last couple of years. But we can squeeze it out of him, you know? I think that that's what we the Orlando Magic were missing this whole time. We had a great core, but we we didn't have size. Our our Wendell Carter Junior, he was our center. He was like six nine. You know what I mean? It wasn't he wasn't the ideal center. This guy Vucevic, he's a tall, strong dude who gets a lot of rebounds. So THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: He's pushing his last couple of years. Sure. We can squeeze it out of him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that that's what we the Orlando Magic were missing this whole time. We had a great core, but we we didn't have size. Yeah, yeah. Wendell Carter Jr., he was our center. He was like six nine. You know what I mean? There wasn't he wasn't the ideal center. This guy Vucevic, he's a tall, strong dude who gets a lot of rebounds. So nice. Get the rebound, kick it out to Bancaro, kick it out to Wagner and just get the hell out of the way. Nice. Nice. But yeah, he had a house here. He never sold his house because he lived here for six years. So Gus: Just get the rebound, kick it out to Bancaro, kick it out to Wagner and just get the hell out the way. That's what I would that's what I would tell him. but yeah, he had a house here. He never sold his house 'cause he lived here for six years. So that's his this is his main house. So I w after he would come the season would end Chicago, this is where he spent his his off season. nice. And so I think that that happens to a lot of players. But still the idea of it, it's kinda like, It's a it's a trade off with the with the role. I think you know that kind of going into it. It's almost like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That's his this is his main house. So I after he would come, the season would end Chicago, this is where he spent his his offseason. nice. And so I think that that happens to a lot of players. But still the idea of it, it's kinda like It's a it's a trade off with the with the role. Yeah, I think you know that kind of going into it. It's almost like as speaking from the family's perspective, right? Like the wife, you know, if you're dating a basketball player, like you should know your yeah, your life's gonna be pretty unpredictable. Gus: As pla speaking from the family's perspective, right? The wife, you know, if you're dating a basketball player, like you should know your Yeah. Your life's gonna be pretty unpredictable. Yeah, they're just moving from city city. Same thing if you're dating like a military man or you know, somebody that's really involved in a a role like that. Like you're constantly moving from base to base or whatever it used to be like in the sixties. I don't know. I don't know it's that prevalent today. Yeah, in Nom. Yeah, the Nom guys. Yeah. The sixties is a crazy decade to choose. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Right, like you're gonna be moving from city to city. Same thing if you're dating like a military man or like you know, somebody that's really involved in a a role like that. Like you're constantly moving from base to base or whatever it used to be like in the sixties. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know it's that prevalent today, but the nom days. The sixties back in the days. Gus: the the nom guys, yeah. yeah, you know, it's i th the wives are probably okay with crying a little bit in their Ferraris. You know? Yeah. It's like Hey, we're moving yeah, it's like Yeah Late for brunch. Late for brunch, yeah. I gotta tell the the wait till the girls find out we're moving to fucking Milwaukee. You know what I mean? They're gonna hate that. But yeah, I'm sure, you know, it's like, Hey honey, we're moving to we're moving to Milwaukee. Here's your user Birkenbag. I feel so bad and they're like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah, you know it's the wives are probably You know? Yeah. It's like it's hard. Hey, we're moving us. You gotta get to late for brunch. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure, you know, it's like, Hey honey, we're moving your these are Birkin bag. I feel so bad. Yeah. Like, man. And you know it's a lifestyle choice. So yeah. It is, it And I and I was gonna say that I I think that people underestimate the fact that once once money's so prevalent in your life for so long, it doesn't it doesn't move it. Like people are like, but how can they complain? They're rich. But no, you know what I mean? Yeah. Once you're so rich for so long, it's like little things like moving from your city matter way more to you than like you're making ten million dollars now more Gus: And you know what I do it is, it is, and I and I was gonna say that. I I think that people underestimate the fact that once once money's so prevalent in your life for so long, it doesn't it doesn't move it. Like people are like, but how can they complain? They're rich. But no, you know what I mean? Like once you're so rich for so long, it's like little things like moving from your city matter way more to you than like, you're making ten million dollars now more. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. Yeah, but you know, what's what's that is that really gonna marginally make my life so much better? Yeah. That Gus: It's like yeah, but you know, what's what's that is that really gonna marginally make my life so much better? That THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: staying in my hometown you know, compared to staying in my hometown? And that's something that we we should talk about. Do you think that let me ask you this, do you think that when you're younger the money matters more? Do you think that you get to an age and you're like Yeah. I for sure I think when you're younger than well that well that actually makes you think of Brunson from the Knicks. Mm-hmm. Right? Dude, didn't he take a huge pay cut? Gus: staying in my hometown, you know, compared to staying in my hometown. And that's something that we we should talk about. Do you think that let me ask you this, do you think that when you're younger, the money matters more? Do you think that you get to an age and you're like, Yeah. They'll Mm-hmm. Right, dude. Didn't he take a huge pay cut? Yeah. How old is he, like twenty? He's probably like twenty nine now. He's probably twenty nine, thirty. He's probably thirty. Yeah, yeah. He's he's probably our age. Well, a little but he's probably my age. Didn't he take a huge pay cut to get like other star players? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. He took a pay cut to not he didn't get paid to create the team that they have around him. Yeah. And but that's you know, that that kind of answers that question, right? It's like he he made a strategic financial decision at his expense to take what mattered more to him, which was winning an NBA championship. Right. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. How old is he, like twenty? He's probably like twenty nine. He's probably twenty. twenty nine. He's a older than I thought. Yeah, yeah. He's he's probably our age. Well, little bit he's probably my age. Didn't he take a huge pay cut to get like his other star player? Yeah, yeah. He took a pay cut to not he didn't get paid to create the team that they have around him. Yeah. And that's you know, that that kind of answers that question, right? It's like he he made a strategic financial decision at his expense to take what mattered more to him, which was winning an NBA championship. Right. And so it's Gus: And so it's you know, yes, when you're young, yeah, I think I do think money matters more because you're trying to build more options for yourself. I think you it comes with trade offs and understanding like what you really want in life. If if you what you want is flexibility, like money's probably gonna have to give. Sure. Sure. I think those guys every every season they have one goal, right? And it's the championship. And I think that people underestimate how much those people, like those players really want to be a champion. Like I don't think Brady THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You know, yes, when you're young, yeah, I think I do think money matters more because you're trying to build more options for yourself, but I think you it comes with trade offs and understanding like what you really want in life. If if you what you want is flexibility, like money's probably gonna have to give, you know? Sure. I think those guys every every season they have Think that people underestimate how much those people like those players really want to be a champion. Like, I don't think Brady I might be wrong about this, but there were probably seasons, entire seasons, where Brady wasn't the highest paid player in the league. And I don't think Brady gives a damn. Mm-hmm. 'Cause I think Brady had one goal in mind. Yep. It was win that Super Bowl. Right. And that's what people remember. And that's yeah, he's rich now. Yeah, yeah. He's rich regardless, right? And he's powerful regardless, but he's a seven time champion and Gus: I might be wrong about this, but there were probably seasons, entire seasons where Brady wasn't the highest paid player in the league. And I don't think Brady gives a damn. Mm-hmm. 'Cause I think Brady had one goal in mind. Yeah. It was win that Super Bowl, right? And that's what people remember. And that's yeah, he's rich now. He's gonna be he's rich regardless, right? And he's powerful regardless, but he's a seven time champion and no one can ever his you know, he's in the history books because of it. And so I do think that THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No one can ever his you know, he's in the history books because I do think that that's why I love sports, man, because there there's always one goal. That's it. Nothing else. Every time you start a season in hockey, in baseball, in basketball, in football, there's one goal they are going after. It's the championship. And when you get it, I think that that that ecstasy must be insane. And it's also probably one of the worst Gus: That's why I love sports, man, because there there's always one goal. That's it. Nothing else. Every time you start a season in hockey, in baseball, in basketball, in football, there's one goal they all are going after. It's the championship. And when you get it, I think that that that ecstasy must be insane. And it's also probably one of the wor THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I w I was listening to a a podcast about like UFC fighters and how like the dopamine spikes that they used to get when they enter an arena, Gus: I was listening to a a podcast about like UFC fighters and how like the dopamine spikes that they used to get when they enter an arena. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: like after they retire, they chase that for the rest of their lives and that a lot of them that's why a lot of them go broke or go into vices and stuff like that, because could you imagine heck like I love it when five people clap for me. Gus: Like after they retire, they chase that for the rest of their lives and a lot of them that's why a lot of them go broke or go into vices and stuff like that. Because could you imagine heck like I love it when five people clap for me. But could you imagine being the guy that ten, twenty, thirty thousand people are clapping for you every time you see destroying another human being Yeah. Yeah, that's even that's even cooler. Yeah. After knocking some guy out unconscious in front of their family. Yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: But could you imagine being guy that ten, twenty, thirty thousand people are clapping for you at the After destroying another human being with your fists too cooler, yeah. After clapping people unconscious in front of their family. Yeah, yeah. A after fighting for your life to make it make it happen. Gus: Yeah, literally. That must be yeah, I I just don't know like I think that I've I've felt one ha or half a percent of what these superstar athletes in every sport feel. Like I could only imagine being like Messi, right? Like me like Messi since he was like sixteen has been in front of stadiums cheering his name, clapping for him. I wonder what life after soccer feels like for him. Like he's just at home and he's just like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: These superstes in every sport field. Messi, right? Like like Messi since he was like 16 has been in front of stadiums cheering his name, clapping for him. I wonder what life after soccer feels like for him. Like he's just at home and he's just like putting out another season of Game of Thrones. Yeah. It's like how I wonder how how impactful that is because you know that biochemically dopamine is a real thing. And those things. Gus: Yeah, dude, it's like how I wonder how how impactful that is because you know that biochemically dopamine is a real thing. And those things hitting a game winning goal like in Argentina and running towards the fan base and s and like screaming, that your dopamine is probably the highest it'll ever be. So if that be if that becomes your normal, then like when that that will never happen again. Yeah, yeah, to experience that again. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: hitting a game winning goal like in Argentina and running towards the fan base and s and like screaming. Nothing. So that'd be that becomes your normal then like when that that will never happen again. Yeah, yeah, to experience that again. Yeah, that's why a lot of these guys go fishing and they're just You have to find fulfillment and other things. And a lot of them do, I think they try. But yeah, it is hard. I mean it's very it's gotta be very hard. Yeah. To like reacclimate to the new normal. Yeah, dude. I think that that compares to our Gus: Yeah, that's why a lot of these guys go fishing and they're just screaming. That's tough to do, I think they try. But yeah, it is hard. I mean it's it's very it's gotta be very hard. Yeah. To like reacclimate to the new normal. Yeah, dude. I think that that compares to our our li world in commercial real estate. Have you noticed that like the best brokers, they probably do a ten million dollar deal like it's nothing and like they probably don't feel that same rush that I would feel when I first started, you know what I mean? Yeah, for sure. No, or even when you first started THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You noticed that like the best brokers, they probably do a ten million dollar deal like it's nothing, and like they probably don't feel that same rush that I would feel when I first started. yeah, for sure. No, or even when you first started in in commercial real estate in general, before doing deals, dude, you would the high you would get from talking to anybody that wanted to talk to you and then being like, Yeah, sure, like I'd sell for you know three million bucks or whatever. You're like, Yes, I gotta sell her. it it Gus: commercial real estate in general before doing deals, dude, you would the high you would get from talking to anybody that wanted to talk to you. Right. And then being like, yeah, sure, like I'd sell for you know three, when you got a price. Yes, I got a seller. huh. it it it readjusts as you go on. I think you mentioned something today in the office how like that feeling changes over time. And I think you do get used to it, but I don't think it ever goes away. Yeah. I don't think it's I I still you know it's something THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: It readjusts as you go on. I think you mentioned something today in the office about how like that feeling changes over time and I think you do get used to it, but I don't think it ever goes away. I don't think it's I I still you know, it's something exciting happens and you still get like super yeah, you get excited about it. You get you know the baseline's different yeah. And I think that that I was comparing you, I actually told our Gus: exciting happens and you still get like super Yeah, you get excited about it. Yeah. The baseline's different though. And I think that that I was comparing you. I actually told our new intern that story. Like I I think that you are at a point now in your career that like even today, whenever you had to ring the bell, it was just like, Okay, you know what I mean, like another deal closed, that's cool, and you were happy about it. Of course you're happy about it and financially it's awesome for you. But, you know, it's Yeah, it's another deal. It's different game. It's another deal, but it's also the the game also changes. You know, you do you do deals and then you THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You know, it's Yeah, it's another deal. It's another deal, but it's also the the game also changes. You know, you do you do deals and then you do deals with other people, which is great, and then you do your own deals. Yeah. And then you buy your own deals and then so that the excitement gets bigger. Then you Yeah, you you just th you start to play a different game and chase like higher and better deals. And maybe different things are Gus: do deals with other people, which is great. And you do your own deals. Yeah. Every it's a different deal. Right. So that the excitement gets bigger. Then you sure yeah. You you just th you start to play a different game and chase like higher and better deals. And maybe different things in your life, right? Like c bringing back to the entirety of the whole conversation a around the NBA guys, it's like w your priorities s shift when you're a champ after you're a champion after you've made hundreds of millions of dollars. So I'm assuming that like just getting ice cream with your kids probably is like gives you that a little bit of that dopamine spike that you're missing, you know, or just going on a trip with your wife. You know what I mean? It's it it's just I think your your enjoyment in life changes as you as you get older. I think you know kind of what you get into the first year THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Your priorities s shift when you're a champ after you're a champion after you've made hundreds of millions of dollars. So I'm assuming that like just getting ice cream with your kids probably is like gives you that a little bit of that dopamine spike that you're missing or just going on a trip with your wife. You know what I mean? It's yeah, it's just I think your your enjoyment in life changes. It I think I think you know kind of what you get into the first year, as you develop that professional identity. Gus: as you develop that professional identity. You know, it's like you know kind of the highs and lows that you're gonna have to experience and you know, if you're savvy enough then you can kind of prepare for it or understand how you can reacclimate to the new norm or you know, reacclimate to the old norm after your professional career's over, like you have to think of those things. Yeah. Absolutely. So I guess it's to bring everything that we've talked about today together, right? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: You know, it's like you know kind of the highs and lows that you're gonna have to experience and you know, if you're savvy enough then you can kind of prepare for it or understand how you can reacclimate to the new norm or you know, reacclimate to the old norm after your professional career is over. Like you have to think of those things. Yeah, absolutely. So I guess the Yeah. I think that the key concept that we were talking about this whole time was identity. And so we went from national identity to local city or more concentrated identity to professional identity to personal identity. And these are all different identities that one person can carry. You know what I mean? You could you could be an American who is also a Floridian who's also Gus: I think that the key concept that we were talking about this whole time was identity. And so we went from national identity to local city or more concentrated identity to professional identity to personal identity. And these are all different identities that one person can carry. You know what I mean? You could you could be an American who is also a Floridian who's also an Orlando a sports fan. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: A sports fan. A sports fossil an Orlando Magic fan. Who's also a US T. Yeah. And you're also a a broker. Yeah. And you're also a boyfriend and a son. A brother and yeah. Exactly. So those are all identities that I think people sometimes forget that one person is all of those things and I think sometimes you forget that that's that's the complexity of being a human being. It's that a lot of times you're narrowing your sight or your mentality. Gus: Who's also an Orlando Magic fan, who's also seventeen Yeah. And you're also a broker. And you're also a boyfriend and a son. Exactly. So those are all identities that I think people sometimes forget that one person is all of those things. And I think sometimes you forget that that's that's the complexity of being a human being. It's that a lot of times you're narrowing your sight or your mentality. To fit into I am a broker while ignoring or maybe putting aside the fact that you're also a son or a husband or a wife or or an American. You know what I mean? And so like maybe at different points of your life you identify with one identity more than the other. That's that's what I was saying. Yes. But I think that's what THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: To fit into I am a broker while ignoring or maybe putting aside the fact that you're also a son or a husband or a wife or or an American. You know what I mean? And so maybe at different points of your life you identify with one identity more than the others. That's what I saying. Yes. But I think that's what some people who fully devote themselves to one identity. Gus: Some people who fully devote themselves to one identity, I think those are the ones that really leave a mark in that particular realm of their lives. Like because you have to each one of them requires energy and focus. And if you're like fully chasing professional identity, it's gonna come at the expense of your personal personal identity, your identity as a son or your identity as a husband, your requirements at home. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: I think those are the ones that really leave a mark in that particular realm of their lives. Like because you have to each one of them requires energy and focus. And if you're like fully chasing professional identity, it's gonna come at the expense of personal personal identity, your identity as a son or your identity as a husband or your requirements at home. Because it requires a lot of time to be a professional athlete or, you know, a s the top Gus: Because it requires a lot of time to be a professional athlete or you know, a s the top broker or the top whatever in your field. Yeah. so anyway, I just that that's that makes Yeah, it's good. That's beautiful at the expense of something. And so being able to balance it is is the the real game that a person has to learn how to play. Yeah, dude. you know it's funny, you're right. I I wasn't thinking about it that way at all. Like I was thinking about it as like, how do you always make sure you juggle all of them? But to your point. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: broker or the top whatever in your field. so anyway, I just that that's what that made me think of. It always comes at the expense of something and so being able to balance it is is the the real game that a person has to learn how to play. Yeah dude you know it's funny you're right. I I wasn't thinking about it that way at all. Like I was thinking about it as like how do you always make sure you juggle all of them but to your point when you were saying as if you want to be great. Yeah. Yeah. As you were saying that I was thinking Kobe Bryant. I was thinking Steve Dell Gus: when you were saying as you were saying your exam, yeah. As you were saying that I was thinking Kobe Bryant. I was thinking Steve Jobs. What did you do? What did they do? I they were they were basketball players. Yeah. In that like that professional or whatever. Yeah. Yeah, the arena, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kobe was a basketball player over everything and his whole family had to adapt to the fact that yes, he was a good father. Apparently Kobe was like up taking girls to schools and in the gym. He had he he barely slept. But it's because he didn't want to give up the identity of being a father. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: What did you do? What did they do? I mean, they were so good in that like that professional or whatever. Yeah, they were even, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, he was a good father. Apparently Kobe was like up taking girls to school and in the gym. He had he he barely slept. But it's because he didn't want to give up the identity of being a father. And so even though he his main identity was being Kobe Bryant, the best basketball player in the league, he also made time to fulfill those identities. Yeah. But someone like Steve Jobs, for example, his identity was CEO of Apple. Gus: And so even though he his main identity was being Kobe Bryant, the best basketball player in the league, he also made time to fulfill those identities. But someone like Steve Jobs, for example, his identity was CEO of Apple. That identity took over him. I'm I'm assuming and you've and you probably know more about Jobs than I do. That identity took over who he was. Like Yeah, for sure. He probably wasn't anything else for a long time. Yeah. But to your point, it's throughout the different phases of your life you choose which identity you want to prioritize. Yeah. And so THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That identity took over him, I'm I'm assuming and you and you probably know more about Jones than I do. That identity took over who he was. Like Yeah, for sure. He probably wasn't anything else for a long time. Yep. But to your point, it's throughout the different phases of your life you choose which identity you want to prioritize. Yeah. And so yeah, I mean there's Gus: Yeah, I mean there's we're over here glazing each other. Go ahead. Go ahead. No, to your point though, but you but no no dude. That's a good point. No, dude, my god, dude. Yeah. No, but it's I I think that's the point is that there's no right answer. Yeah. but it does fluctuate throughout your life based off your priorities. Sure. but identity is such an such an important core for someone to be able to understand about themselves so that they can be aware of their their shortcomings. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: No, to you you you That's a good point. Yeah. No, but it's I I think that's the point is that there's no right answer. but it does fluctuate throughout your life based off your priorities. Sure. but identity dude is such an such an important core for someone to be able to understand about themselves so that they can be aware of their their shortcomings or Gus: Or capitalize in the one identity that they're THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: yeah, or catapulte. Gus: they're they're going after. Like I think we were talking about I was talking about this with Zach. shout out Zach. Guillermo's very successful at the at the age at h his age and what he's been able to do in his life is crazy. And I think it's because Guillermo's identities are all THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Guillermo's very successful at the at the age at his age and what he's been able to do in his life is crazy. And I think it's because Guillermo's identities are all Gus: merged into one person. And so I think that Guillermo CEO of Panther is Guillermo CEO of Panther at home. Guillermo CEO of Panther at parties. You know what I mean? Yeah. And and so that's why I think he's very successful. Yeah. That's just who he is. That's one identity. Yeah. the only time I do see Guillermo be different is with his family. I do notice that his dad when his dad and mom call or his sister calls, he's not CEO of Panther anymore. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: merged into one person yeah and so I think that Guillermo CEO of Panther is Guillermo CEO of Panther at home. Guillermo CEO of Panther at parties. You know what I mean? Yeah. And for sure. He's authentically him in every room. Yeah. That's just who he is. That's just who he is, yeah. All the time. Yeah. the only time I do see Guillermo be different is with his family. I do notice that his dead with his dad and sister calls he's not CO Panther anymore. Gus: He's he's just Guillermo, the brother or the or the son. Yeah, I love that. I love that. But but other than that, that's somebody that's living that identity, and that's why I think he'll be very successful in his career as a broker. Yeah. Because there's no switching mentality. Like he doesn't have to like balance it. That's where he focuses energy. That's who he is. And and that's why I think it's so hard for him to empathize sometimes with people who are not identifying themselves fully as THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Yeah. He's Guillermo. Yeah. Or the son. Yeah, I love that. It's nice. But but other than that, that's somebody that's living that identity. And that's why I think he'll be very successful in his career as a broker. Yep. Because there's no switching mentality for sure. That's where he focuses energy. That's who he is. Yeah. That's why I think it's so hard for him to magnize sometimes with people who are not identifying themselves fully as Gus: a broker. Because to him it's like THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: broker because to him it's like you should be in the office 12 hours. Yeah. You should be making calls while you're driving or brushing your teeth or eating breakfast. Why are you not calling people while you're like I'm I've already had 17 calls. I'm like Viermo it's 8 30 in the morning. Yeah. It's like yeah I've already talked to 25 brokers and 10 buyers and three sellers. Gus: You should be in the office twelve hours. You should be making calls while you're driving or brushing your teeth or eating breakfast. Like why are you not calling people while you're like I'm I've already had seventeen calls. I'm like, Guillermo, it's eight thirty in the morning. It's like, Yeah, I've already talked to twenty five brokers and ten buyers and three sellers. And I just closed the deal. So it's like nine AM. And so that's why I think that and people like that, people like Elon Musk, people like Steve Jobs, people like these these guys, they can't empathize that well. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: And I just close the deal. So it's like nine AM. Yeah. So that's why I think that and people like that, people like Elon Musk, people like Steve Jobs, people like these these guys, they can't empathize that well. Gus: Because they're like, why like why not? Why wouldn't you? You know what I'm saying? This is this is what you need to do. Exactly. This is what it takes. Exactly. It's it's almost like there's no other there's to them, it's just like there's no way that there's another w way of living. Like, right? Like that's interesting, right? Because I I do think that THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: They're like, Why like why not? Why wouldn't you? Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? This is this is what you need to do. Exactly. Right. This is this is what it takes. Exactly. It's it's almost like there's no other there's to them it's just like there's no way that there's another w way of living. Like that's interesting, right? Because I I do think that Gus: that varies from person to person and professional to professional. Sure. Cool, man. Great podcast. Yeah, dude's great. Yeah. Wow. I think we did a good job, like flowing the different things. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: That varies from person to person, professional professor. For sure. Cool man. Great podcast. Yeah, dude's great. Yeah. We I think we did a good job, like Yeah. Flowing the different tangents and putting them together, tying them together. I hope so. I hope I hope that and you know, we'll have to listen to this back. We're probably gonna What are we talking about? What do we even say? Solid Greece? Yeah. We might yeah, we'll we'll figure it out, guys. And you know what? I think this is the most Gus: And together, tying them together. I hope so. I hope I hope that and you know, we'll have to listen to this back. We'll probably gotta listen to the What are we talking about? Greece still, like are we still in Greece? Yeah, we might, yeah, we'll we'll figure it out, guys. You know what? I think this is the most humbling thing that we can say to you guys as the audience is we don't know what we're doing. And we don't pretend to. We're not here to pretend that we know what we're talking about. we hope that we're learning. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: humbling thing that we can say to you guys as the audience is we don't know what we're doing and we don't pretend to. We're here to pretend that we know what we're talking about. we hope that we're learning Gus: Just as much as you guys are. And I feel like that's the whole point of the podcast. If you guys go to our website, if you guys understand our mission and vision for this podcast the entire time, even when we first thought about it, our first idea was let's just learn what we want to learn about and do it alongside our audience. Yep. And I think we've said that almost every single podcast we've sat here and talked. So we're doing it. Yeah, we're doing it. How do you feel? How do you f you feel that that's that that's what we're doing? Yeah, I I agree. Yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: Just as much as you guys are. And I feel like that's the whole point of the podcast. If you guys go to our website, if you guys understand our mission and vision for this podcast, the entire time, even when we first thought about it, our first idea was let's just learn what we want to learn about and do it alongside our audience. Yep. And I think we've said that almost every single podcast we've sat here and talked. So we're doing it. Yeah, we're doing it. How do you feel? How do you f you feel that that's that that's what we're doing? Yeah, I I agree. I One hundred percent. I love the fact that we can sit down, explore a topic, understand our view of it, learn a little bit more, and have others come along with us on the run. So Yeah. Gus: I love the fact that we could sit down, explore a topic, understand our view of it, learn a little bit more. Mm-hmm. Yeah, having others come is that's it's the way we we we if we if we can do any contribution in this world before we die is that. and so yeah, we appreciate everything and we're gonna keep doing this and I think it's gonna be a great journey. And wait till we have guests on, man. That's gonna be the most exciting part. I don't know where they're gonna have to sit on on Hector's IKEA table. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: that and so yeah we appreciate everything and we're gonna keep doing this and I think it's gonna be a great journey. Yep wait till we have guests on man that's the most exciting part. I don't know where to sit on Hector's IKEA table Hector's Gus: They're gonna have to sit on Hector's IKEA table or maybe on on my lap on Hector's lap. Yeah. So what so what makes you qualified to talk about this topic? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: IKEA table or maybe I'll sit on my lap on Hector's lap so so what makes you qualified to talk about this topic How long have you been at Olympic Weightlifting champion. Gus: God dude if we interview like the craziest people, it's like the big show. yeah man, let's close this out. I I appreciate it. I appreciate you heck, man. Like it's fun it's crazy that we can Yeah, it's crazy that we can see each other every single day for hours and still sit here and talk for how long? THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: my god, dude. yeah man, let's close this out. I I appreciate it. Let's do it. Yeah man, like it's funny. It's crazy that we can Yeah, it's crazy that we can see each other every single day for hours. Yep and still sit here and talk for how long? fuck dude, I need glasses. an hour This okay, before we go, the story. This man got Gus: This okay, before we go, the story. This man got glasses in Japan. He's never worn glasses. Now every time you see him, he looks like he looked all of a sudden, now he looked like Velma from Scooby Doo. I feel like he's just always squinting. He can't see without his glasses. Alright. Yeah. Yeah. I never had glasses. Now every time I see him he's looking at the at the screens like this. I'm like, dude, just put yeah, all of a sudden now you blind, Now you blind. Yeah, an hour and fifty seven seconds. an hour and fifty seven seconds. Yeah. Yeah. THE PODCAST WITH GUS N HEC: glasses in Japan. He's never worn glasses. Now every time all of a sudden now he looked like Velma from Scooby Doo. I feel like he just always squinting can't see I haven't worn glasses my entire life. I never every time I see him he's looking at the at the screens like all of a sudden. Yeah all of a sudden now you blind up. I really can you see the time on that? Yeah an hour and fifty seven seconds. an hour fifty seven seconds. okay damn all right. Nice. Well good stuff. Good stuff man. Thank you for Gus: Nice. Good stuff. Good stuff, man. Thank you for coming to the Growth Trip Podcast. It's just the beginning of the journey, guys. Thank you.
